It’s no surprise to see Indian at the top of the list, buoyed by 2017’s breakout successes.Taste 2018 was treated to some of Modern Indian’s trendiest concepts. Examples included Kricket, Bombay Bustle & Cinnamon Bazaar.
Asian concepts followed closely behind in a variety of formats from Dude Food (Freak Scene) to Fine Dining (Duddell’s). The Middle East was also well represented with no less than 6 concepts. The MENA movement is moving fast, though classic Middle Eastern concepts such as Yotam Ottolenghi’s Yosma were on show too, alongside the new kids on the block like Bala Baya. It was interesting to see the Iberian region represented with 4 concepts from the area suggesting a desire for their dishes and produce remains.
As you’d expect Chicken dishes came out on top however Lamb upset the applecart with a surprising 13 dishes overtaking both Beef & Pork. It’s been on the cards for a while now but it looks like Lamb is finally making its way back onto the menu.....heres hoping! Goat seems to be maintaining its ‘bubbling under’ status with 2 dishes
